Chinese in Australia

Chinese in Australia

Hi Lisa

how are you ? thankyou for your last email , i know it must be difficult for you with high rent and your salary not enough , it is similar in some parts of australia . i am buying my house but years ago i had to work three jobs for two years to even save enough money for the deposit to buy it, but now my repayments are cheaper than what people have to pay in renting a house they will never own, it doesnt make sense i know , but it is much better here to borrow the money from a bank and buy your own house.

you asked about chinese people here ? , remember that i live on a little island under mainland australia and there are not a lot of chinese people here , but the chinese immigrants that came here decades ago are now very wealthy, they nearly all opened small restaurants and sold simple chinese food as they learnt the english language and western culture, they worked hard and when they had children then the whole family helped , and it worked for them. In mainland australia there are larger chinese communities and cities such as "sydney" and "melbourne" have areas called "china town " . These areas contain only chinese shops from restaurants to lawyers and it is like going to china, most of the signs are in chinese in these areas. Australia is encouraging all schools to learn chinese language ( years ago french and german was taught ) and the government is also encouraging skilled people from china and other countries to immigrate to australia, ( teachers , doctors, dentists etc ) i hope this answers your question my friend.

i will say goodbye for now, i wish the remainder of the week to be enjoyable for you ok, your friend Tom
